What is it?

The 2GC Balanced Scorecard Audit starts from an agreed understanding of the intended purpose of your existing system, which is used to agree with you the scope, aims, and content of the Audit. Normally we will review the robustness of the performance objectives and measures within the business unit in question and evaluate how the whole system is being used.

How does it work?

Specific evaluation criteria are agreed jointly before starting the review process. The Audit is based on a combination of document reviews and interviews:

  • Documents reviewed are likely to include: statements of long-term goals and strategies, medium-term objectives, performance measures, performance reports, project/initiative inventories, and budgets along with documentation of how these are developed and used;
  • We interview key decision-makers using (or intended to be using) the Balanced Scorecard, other relevant users and measurement reporters;

The aim is to examine effectiveness of your system against your expectations for it, and against best practice;

What do I get?

Our findings and recommendations are presented in a written report and a personal presentation, which will give you a clear idea of any weaknesses against best practice and an implementation plan for addressing these.

How long does it take?

Estimated duration of the audit and report writing is one to two weeks, the exact duration depends on the size of business unit and management team, the number of objectives and measures and the complexity of the Balanced Scorecard.
