Why has 2GC opened an online discussion forum?
Partly because we keep getting asked to... There are several well established discussion forums: 2GC staff actively participate in some of these. Some are popular and well run, but others that we have found useful in the past have suffered from lack of attention. 23 of the web sites listed in our Weblinks database have an active online discussion forum - but of these about half are effectively non-functional. None the remainder have a focus on Performance Management issues. We hope that this discussion forum will be a useful addition to those already available.
Will 2GC staff continue to participate in other forums?
2GC has no corporate policy concerning participation by its employees in online discussion forums - those that do participate do so because of their interest in the topic not because they are required to. Because of this it is not clear how their participation will change now 2GC’s own forum is up and running: but significant changes in participation are unlikely.
How does the discussion forum operate?
The discussion forum is 'online' - i.e. you need to visit 2GC’s web site to post messages, and will be actively moderated. Access to the forum is unconstrained, but in order to post messages in the forum you need to have registered (something that requires you sending a minimal set of personal data to 2GC). A set of guidelines will be provided that outline what constitutes an acceptable 'posting' - messages that fail to adhere to these guidelines will be prevented from appearing in the forum.
How will the discussion forum be structured?
The discussion forum is broken into several 'areas' each focusing on a particular issue.
Will 2GC charge for access to the forum?
No.
Can I help?
Possibly! If you would like to help us with the Discussion Forum system, please let us know. There are important roles to fill as moderators and content experts in each of the Discussion Forum areas: if you think that this is a role for you please let us know.
