Gavin Lawrie: Founder & Managing Director
Gavin is both a classically trained and experienced strategic management consultant, and one of the UK’s leading experts on the Balanced Scorecard and the consulting processes needed to support its design. His Balanced Scorecard expertise derives from his leadership of projects to develop Balanced Scorecard designs for major corporations across three continents and a wide range of industries, and from working on the development of Balanced Scorecards with both David Norton and Robert Kaplan (creators of the Balanced Scorecard concept).
Prior to founding 2GC in April 1999, Gavin was a leading member of the International Balanced Scorecard Practice of Renaissance Worldwide.
Gavin holds an MBA degree from London Business School, and a BEng Degree from the University of London. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, and the Strategic Planning Society. Gavin has spoken widely at conferences and seminars on issues surrounding the development and implementation of Balanced Scorecards.
Sally Green: Company Secretary and Director
Sally is responsible for general management, including staff, budgets, training,and the marketing of company activities to a wide audience. A science graduate from London University, Sally is a highly experienced manager from the ethical pharmaceutical industry. She has broad experience from pure research through drug development, to sales and marketing, both in Europe and the USA.
William Barney: Principal Consultant
William is a multi-lingual, internationally experienced management consultant, with 14 years experience at KPMG’s UK Consultancy practice. As a Director of KPMG’s Performance Improvement and Travel, Hospitality and Tourism teams, he led projects concerning performance management, management reporting, risk management and corporate governance, mergers, acquisitions and divestments and investment appraisal for a wide range of blue-chip clients across Europe.
William graduated with an MBA from the London Business School and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales. His experience of Balanced Scorecard is extensive and includes the design and implementation of a corporate scorecard for a large food and drink company and for a European Hotel Group. William is fluent in English and French, and speaks some Italian.
Nurolamin Abas: Head of Business Development, Asia-Pacific
Nurolamin is a management consultant with broad experience in corporate strategy and corporate finance. He began his career with a Big Four in Australia and subsequently with an IT systems consultancy that involved projects across Asia Pacific. Nurolamin also has significant management experience in public listed companies as he was in a position responsible for corporate planning to undertake the privatisation and initial public offer of an airport operator.  Recently he was an Executive Director for Strategy of two public listed companies and was involved in the successful turnaround and value creation in these companies.
Nurolamin’s experience in corporate management and consulting enables him to provide clients with insightful and practical advice in the development and implementation of corporate strategy. His recent corporate performance management experience includes projects for a defence organisation and a regional food and restaurant service operator. He holds a BSc in Economics from University of Bristol and has attended courses in Accountancy and Law with University of Melbourne.  
Nurolamin is fluent in English and Malay.
Chris Bragg: Senior Consultant
Chris supports 2GC’s clients in the Middle East from a base in Bahrain. Chris is a highly experienced professional consultant, having spent 25 years working in project management and process improvement for major corporations including De Beers, Anglo American, Old Mutual, Norwich Union, and Computer Associates. In the public sector, he has delivered projects within IT and education, developing papers and proposals for a GCC government and private sector organisations relating to adult education, qualification frameworks, sustainable development and eLearning. Chris has worked in South Africa and USA, and has been based in the Middle East for the 10 years prior to his joining 2GC.
Chris holds a BSc degree in Zoology from the University of Cape Town, and Operations Research and Computer Science qualifications through the University of South Africa. He is a member of the Project Management Institute.
Stephen Stringer: Senior Consultant
Stephen is a highly experienced consultant and consultancy manager whose assignments have encompassed strategic, marketing and organisational development. Another of 2GC’s London Business School MBA graduates, he has worked extensively as a consultant in the retail services sector in the UK, Europe and the Middle East, and was co-founder and practice leader of a London-based retail consultancy in the 1980s. He has long experience in business planning, development and implementation for new ventures and established businesses – particularly in the services sector.
Stephen is a highly skilled Balanced Scorecard consultant, and has worked with 2GC on Balanced Scorecard assignments since 2000 – recent assignments include the development of Balanced Scorecards for a number of French-based commercial organisations and subsidiaries. Stephen is fluent in English and French.
Guillaume Varlet - Consultant
Guillaume Varlet joined 2GC following his graduation from with an MBA from the London Business School in 2008. Guillaume is an experienced quality manager with proficiency in Lean and Six Sigma, who has worked primarily on business performance improvement projects for a number of employers. Guillaume is fluent in English, French and German, and has worked in five countries through his career.
In addition to his MBA, Guillaume holds an MSc in mechanical Engineering from the ESTACA, Paris.
Haider Shakiry - Specialist Consultant
Haider is a business consultant, management coach and trainer who has worked on management development projects for a broad range of organisations in the UK and the Middle East, with a focus on strategic analysis, operations management and performance improvement.
Haider joined 2GC in 2009 to enhance our ability to deliver performance management projects in the Middle East.
Haider received an MBA (with distinction) from London’s Cass Business School, where he is a visiting lecturer in entrepreneurship. He is a Chartered Marketer, Prince2 Project Management Practitioner, TAP Certified Trainer and a member of the Institute of Business Consultants. Haider is fluent in English and Arabic.
Pierre El-Hnoud - Specialist Consultant
Pierre is a management consultant with over 20 years experience working for client organisations in Canada and the Middle East. Previous roles have included being a Director of Advisory Services at KPMG in Kuwait, and a Principal Consultant with IBM Global Services in Canada
Pierre joined 2GC in 2009 to enhance our ability to deliver performance management projects in the Middle East.
Pierre holds an M.Sc. from the Quebec University of Montreal in Canada, and is a candidate for Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) at the Bradford University School of Management in the UK. Pierre is fluent in English, Arabic, and French.
Lesley McKie - Consultant
Lesley is an experienced manager and consultant who developed her strategy, business analysis and project management skills across several years working in senior roles within KPMG, before leaving to take up senior management position with a leading UK IT firm. Prior to joining 2GC she has worked as an independent consultant in a variety of coaching and consulting roles.
Lesley has an MBA from Henley Management College, an MSC from the University of Strathclyde, and an MA from the University of Edinburgh.
Dirk Kalff: Research Associate, Middle East
Dirk is a talented and experienced management consultant who worked for 2GC between 2001 and 2009, ultimately becoming responsible for 2GC’s business in the Middle East. Recently Dirk has left 2GC to take on a new career challenge, having been appointed to a senior strategic planning role with a leading trading firm in Saudi Arabia. However, Dirk has agreed to continue to collaborate with 2GC in an advisory capacity, making available to 2GC his regional insight and experience, and continuing to contribute to 2GC’s ongoing research activities.
Dirk holds an MBA from the University of Chicago and a BSc in Molecular Biology from Queen's University, Canada, is fluent in English and speaks good French.
Dr. Michael Shulver: Research Associate
Michael has worked with 2GC to shape its research activities since soon after it was founded in 1999. Michael divides his time between 2GC and a variety of teaching and research commitments within Warwick Business School in the UK. An experienced educator and researcher, Michael has developed and run executive training programmes in both public and private sector organisations worldwide. Michael’s research focuses on performance management and innovation, particularly as applied within the service sector. In addition to his work with 2GC on its research agenda, Michael also gets involved in the design and delivery of consultancy and training assignments.
Michael has delivered lectures and workshops in performance management, innovation and operations management at Executive and MBA level for Warwick Business School and has been a visiting professor for: Hartford Business School; Templeton College, Oxford; Vlerck-Gent Management School and Stockholm School of Economics.
Michael holds PhD and MBA degrees from Warwick Business School, a BSc in Astrophysics from the University of London and is a Chartered Mechanical Engineer.

2GC is seeking consultants to join our highly regarded firm. We are looking for someone who can contribute to the design and delivery of consulting projects, the administration of 2GC, and the further development of our world-class intellectual property.

Candidates need to have: a good first degree and an MBA (or an equivalent second degree) from a leading university; at least 3 years experience in a relevant consulting environment; the ability to work independently or as part of a small team; a willingness to travel internationally as required; excellent spoken and written English; and legal permission to live and work within the EU.
